Political intrigue, forbiden relationships, purring turtles...anything and everything is associated in Shadoe Bassett's life. As an ex-gang member one fry short of a Happy Meal*, he's doing his best to stay out of trouble.
As much as plausible, at least, but when a new student arrives at the Peter Gamble Academy, things get a little strained all around. A big project is due by the end of the year, and the new kid seems determined to make things difficult. What's a rich kid to do?
Hire someone to delete the problem, of course.

    It's finally over.

    Staramama died this morning at 6:30.
    My mom came into my room at 8:30 to wake me up, and she told me. I remember hearing my mom's phone go off, but she wasn't home; it was my uncle calling to tell her that the nurses had gone in to give Staramama a bath, turned her, returned, and she wasn't breathing.
    So now a long, painful but fruitful life is at an end.

    I'll probably be home for the wake and funeral Wednesday to the end of the week. I'm going to help my mom bake some food. I'm going to be a pallbearer, too.
